"After leaving Southend On Sea Art School, I spent 30 years working in London as a Graphic Designer. I enjoyed the exciting and sometimes not so exciting life. At the weekend I would spend time with my wife and two children enjoying coastal walks along the Thames Estuary, which has always been on my doorstep. Inspired by this unique landscape, I would always take a sketchbook and camera which I found very helpful when preparing my next painting. I have always been passionate about nature and the environment and try to capture its may moods in my landscapes.
For the very first Leigh Art Trail I decided to open my cottage for an exhibition of my work and was blown away by that first experience of putting my soul on the wall. I enjoyed meeting so many interesting people and very happy having sold most of my work. In 1996 I let my heart rule my head, left the bright lights of London and opened Gallery 3 in Leigh On Sea, Essex, UK.
I held art workshops for children and adults and many of the children come back to see me after having gone on to University to study Fine Art. This has been the most rewarding part of my job. I have also worked in many local schools with children of all age groups and together we had created works of art from self portraits , still life, collages, etc. The list is too long to include everything but must include clay pigs!
After 20 years at Gallery 3 we had to vacate the property as the landlord decided on a change of use. This lead to the opening of our garden studio, which has been very well received. You are welcome to view my finished work and work in progress or visit to discuss a commission."
